Horn Incense was founded in October 2016 as a joint venture by small frankincense trade companies in association with key Frankincense cooperatives in Somalia’s Puntland State and parts of Somaliland After steadily growing local and international trade of frankincense, these companies realized the need to join forces and form fair trade cooperatives association in support of ethical sourcing of the resins. As a result, the first major network of frankincense cooperatives that comprises a big number of key local frankincense traders and indigenous harvesters in most of frankincense growing zones. The purpose of this network of cooperative association is to assist the cooperative member local traders and harvesters to ensure ethical sourcing of frankincense, myrrh and other aromatic gums, improve livelihoods, local economic growth and sustainability.
