The United Nations Association of Somalia (UNASOM) www.unasom.org is a non-governmental and non-political organization, The Association is a member of the World Federation of UN Associations (WFUNA) www.wfuna.org. WFUNA was founded in 1946 as a “peoples’ movement in support of the United Nations”. We are guided by the vision of the United Nations and work with, WFUNA to strengthen and improve the United Nations. We achieve this through the engagement of people who share a global mindset and support international cooperation – global citizens. We are the people of the United Nations and the Citizens of the World UNASOM works to promote the aims, objectives, principles and ideals of the UN in Somalia as enshrined in the UN Charter. It works on informing its membership and the public in general about the United Nations system and on organizing educational and other programs in accordance with the UN Charter – goals and principles. It also acts on raising public awareness about the significance of cooperation between nations and countries in peace maintenance, respect for the human rights and overall development and progress in the world. The United Nations Association of Somalia has individual and collective membership.
